2024.05.05. – It’s been 12 years since Idestova started the development of Skyblivion, the fan remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which has been joined by more and more people over the years. The concept of modernizing one of Bethesda’s best RPGs with the (modified) interface and visuals of their other legendary work, Skyrim, is quite a promising undertaking, and it looks like it may soon come to fruition.

At least in January 2023, the plan was to release Skyblivion in 2025, i.e. after 13 years of work, the development of which the team gives very deep insights from time to time. They did the same in the days when they presented the old-new Cyrodiil to the world, which also contains quite a few new features.

On the one hand, the mechanics and menu system of the RPG classic, which now seem a bit outdated, have been reworked, as well as the locations have not only been upgraded 1:1, but also made significantly more varied than the original – a great example of this is the dungeons, which have been made completely unique one by one. On the other hand, the walkable countryside has also been made more alive, the forests are made more realistic by the rich flora and fauna, and the cities by their inhabitants. What’s more, they even created a completely new city, which is thoroughly presented in the 5th developer diary.

Like so many other things! But not only for this reason is it worth watching the 14-minute presentation below, but also because it is very likely that nothing else will satisfy our hunger for The Elder Scrolls for a long time. Bethesda will probably be hammering TES VI for many, many more years – as they just released Starfield, so in addition to the works of the fans who supported the developer, we can pass the time with Obsidian’s Awowed as much as possible if we want a fantasy RPG. And at this point, we can only hope that Skyblivion will actually be completed next year – and will be included one way or another it’s also a free fan supplement released this weeks.
