Yerevan used to be one of Moscow’s most important allies, but in recent months the relationship between the two countries has grown cold. This is largely due to the fact that, according to Armenians, Russia failed them in the Nagorno-Karabakh war. For this reason, Prime Minister Nikol Pasinján has turned away from his former ally and is looking for partners in the West. One of the steps in this is that he is trying to build a closer relationship with Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi is visiting the Caucasus country as part of the opening. The meeting is expected to take place in early March.

The interesting thing about the event is that after this, the Kyiv leader plans to continue his journey and visit Azerbaijan. Precisely in the country with which the Armenians fought a losing war in 2020 and 2023.
