A janitor in a high school in Montérégie was accused, in recent days, of sexual crimes which allegedly occurred over nearly ten years against two very young minors.

Marc-Olivier Massé was handcuffed on April 25 by Sûreté du Québec investigators. The St-Paul-d’Abbotsford resident faces several charges, including sexual interference and sexual assault.

Until his arrest, the 46-year-old man worked in maintenance at Paul-Germain-Ostiguy secondary school in Saint-Césaire, we learned.

The Hautes-Rivières School Service Center did not want to comment, but still confirmed that Massé had been relieved of his duties. An email from which The newspaper obtained a copy was also sent today to parents to inform them of the situation.

During 10 years

The facts with which Massé is accused took place over a decade, i.e. between 2013 and 2023, according to the denunciation document. His two alleged victims were under ten years old when the abuse allegedly began.

The accused was released earlier this week at the Saint-Hyacinthe courthouse. During the legal proceedings, he will have to respect strict conditions, such as not being on school grounds or not occupying a job that would place him in a position of authority.

He has no criminal record according to a search carried out by The newspaper.

The investigation tends to show that he could have caused other victims. The public can transmit information confidentially to the Criminal Information Center of the Sûreté du Québec at 1 800 659-4264.
