Coach Pink Spiders Marcello Abbondanza admitted that he panicked while fighting Red Sparks in the semifinals or first playoffs of the 2023/2024 Korean Volleyball League, Friday (22/3).

In this match, Pink Spiders won 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-23) over Red Sparks at Samsan World Gymnasium.

However, Marcello Abbondanza said he felt nervous about how the match was going. In the first set Pink Spiders lost 22-25 to Red Sparks.

Having recovered in the second set, Kim Yeon Koung and friends again faced fierce resistance from Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi cs. The Pink Spiders were far behind 12-18, but could do it comeback by winning 25-23 in the third set.

“It’s very difficult to predict what will happen in the round playoff,” said Abbondanza, quoted from Naver.

“I was very nervous today and to be honest, I don’t think the quality of the volleyball game was good. The performance was also disappointing. However, I liked the character and color of the team that was displayed today,” added Abbondanza.

The second playoff match will be held at Red Sparks’ home ground, Chungmu Gymnasium, Sunday (24/3). Abbondanza hopes to finish the match this weekend.

“I think I need to rest. I will go straight to Daejeon. I only have one shirt, so I hope I have prepared the laundry,” said the Italian coach.

“It looks like I need to watch the video first and prepare for the next match,” Abbondanza continued.
