May 4, or “May the fourth”, has become known around the world as “Star Wars” day. Therefore, it was a matter of course for Emma Dunnett and Erik Pettersson to combine their bags today.

With Darth Vader as officiant, Baby Yoda as ring bearer and Din Djarin as best man, the two were married at Lindbacka mill outside Örebro.

– It required a lot, but I am so happy that it turned out. It was worth all the late nights, says the bride Emma, who also spoke with Nerikes Allehanda.

“Give me an outfit and I’ll join”

Emma has had an interest in the “Star Wars” universe for just over five years.

– We have built up almost the entire relationship on “Star Wars”. That’s what we do during the day, she says.

– Erik grew up with the films, he is a little older than me. But it’s a wonderful community we’ve got.

She has been planning the wedding for almost two years, since she proposed. An entire room in the house has been dedicated to “Star Wars”, but the late nights and the money have been worth it.

– It was amazing. It was exactly as we had imagined, says Emma.

The wedding officiant Carina Börjesson was dressed as Darth Vader, one of the films’ great antagonists.

– She is amazing. When I called her and told her that we had a slightly odd theme, she just said: “Give me an outfit and I’m on,” says Emma.

– We have really gone all-in. The guests are dressed in black, our girls have their hair up in buns like the character Princess Leia and during the mingle only “Cantina music” was played, says Emma.

The bride and groom, unsurprisingly, started the day with a “Star Wars” episode.

– A new series came out today, “Tales of the Empire”. So we watched two episodes this morning before going to the venue. It will be a good look back tomorrow, says Emma and laughs.

Do you have the same favorite movies?

– Not at all actually! Erik likes the older, classic films more. I like the cartoons. “Clone Wars” I love.

What awaits now?

– Now we’re going to open the “Cantina” bar and party on, says Emma.
