A 27-year-old woman in China was shocked to find out that she had testicles in her stomach which made her biologically male. This was revealed when he underwent a medical examination before marriage.

Since he was a teenager, Li Yuan, not his real name, from Hubei Province in central China, was aware of problems with his reproductive health. When she was a teenager, she was worried about the absence of menstruation and delayed breast development since puberty.

Quoted from South China Morning Post, At the age of 18, Yuan then went to the hospital for an examination. The doctor who carried out the examination said Yuan had problems with abnormal hormone levels and the potential for ovarian failure.

Seeing Yuan’s condition, the doctor who examined him at that time offered a further chromosome test. However, the family did not take the suggestion seriously and did not carry out the examination.

Until finally, not long ago, Yuan planned to get married and had a thorough medical examination at the hospital. The obstetrician who examined him, Duan Jie, said that Yuan had the rare disorder congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).

This rare disorder is only experienced by around 1 in 50 thousand newborns who experience this form of CAH.

After waiting for the test results for one month, Yuan received the results of the medical examination. It is revealed that Yuan has male chromosomes, but has a female appearance.

“Socially Yuan is a woman. But chromosomally he is a man,” said Duan.

Yuan was very surprised by the test results given by the doctor. After living 27 lives as a woman, she must struggle to accept that truth.

From the results of the examination, it was revealed that both of Yuan’s parents carried the recessive gene that caused this disorder. Yuan’s situation gave him a one in four chance of passing the abnormal condition to him.

Not only that, Yuan was also diagnosed with osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency. These conditions occurred due to lack of early treatment.

After the results of the examination came out, the doctor then advised Yuan to carry out surgery to remove the testicles hidden in the patient’s stomach, especially since this condition could have a high risk of causing cancer.

In April 2023, Yuan finally underwent removal surgery. At this time, he also underwent routine follow-up tests and long-term hormone therapy. Duan said early diagnosis and treatment for people with symptoms similar to Yuan’s is critical.
