Three people were wounded by an attacker armed with a knife and a hammer on Saturday morning near the Gare de Lyon train station in Paris, reports Le Figaro. One person suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, while the other two suffered minor injuries. Two of them were hospitalized.

According to the sources of the French newspaper, the attacker also set his backpack on fire at one point. According to a police source, passers-by also helped to disarm the attacker, other sources say that a security guard intervened before the police arrested the man.

The motive of the attacker is still being investigated. Le Figaro writes that the knifeman is a 32-year-old man born in Mali, who was found with an Italian driver’s license. He was also found to be taking medication for a psychiatric illness.
