Prague – The Spolu coalition, which consists of the ruling ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09, will run in this year’s European Parliament elections with number 17. Today, the State Electoral Commission drew number 23 for pirates, the coalition of Starosts number 21. The opposition movement ANO received number 14, The SPD and the Tricolor have a trio and the coalition Enough! led by the Communists, it received the number 26. Not one of these groups thus received an electoral number from the last European elections five years ago.

The electoral numbers created an imaginary starting order of the candidate groupings and will facilitate the processing of election results, as they will prevent the confusion of votes for groupings with similar names, of which there are several this year. The group will be able to use the numbers during the election campaign.
Because of this, the number one and seven, which have a reputation as lucky numbers, are traditionally the most popular. The first place for this year’s European elections was given to the Club of Committed Non-Partisans out of 30 groups admitted to the elections, while the anarcho-capitalist party Nevolte Urza.cz got the seventh place.
Thirteen, which is considered an unlucky number, went to the coalition candidate ČSSD – Czech Sovereignty of Social Democracy, led by former Prime Minister Jiří Paroubek. The Social Democracy (formerly ČSSD, now SOCDEM), whose candidate is headed by former foreign minister Lubomír Zaorálek, will seek to return to the European Parliament with number 20. Svobodní have similar ambitions with number 19.
The “PRO – Jindřich Rajchl” coalition, which consists of the Right Respect Expertise and Correct Choice PRO Zdraví a Sport groups, received a six. The coalition with a similar name “PRO exit from the EU”, which includes Moravians and one of the non-parliamentary republican parties, is number 24. Number 11 was given to the protest-oriented movement Czech Republic in 1st place, headed by the indebted organizer of anti-government demonstrations Ladislav Vrabel.
The Greens got number 12, the Democratic Party of Greens number 27. In addition to the ANO movement of former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, another ANO movement is also going to the elections with number 16, which in its name promises “A better EU with aliens” and that it will stop the expensiveness and war. The Hlas movement with number 22 or the Referendum – People’s Voice movement with number 18 are also in the electoral field. The Oath and Motorists coalition has nine.
