During a press conference, police shared an edited video combining multiple surveillance camera angles and law enforcement voiceover to outline the incident, as reported by Nbcnews. The footage shows Williams pulling up to the drive-thru payment window, rolling down his window, and shooting 23-year-old employee Ashley Garibay, who later died of her injuries. Williams then parked his car, exited, and shot Christopher Claunch as he sat in his vehicle.
The video captures Williams returning to the payment window after observing employees rendering aid to Garibay. After his handgun jammed while firing into the window, Williams retrieved a rifle from his vehicle. He subsequently fired at fleeing patrons in the parking lot and exchanged gunfire with an active-duty, off-duty Idaho State Police trooper who was inside the restaurant helping patrons and employees evacuate.
The attack later expanded beyond the restaurant property. According to police accounts, a good Samaritan engaged with Williams as he fled toward a Tesla charging station, where Williams shot three people sitting in vehicles, including Dale Schultz, who died from his injuries.
