A high-speed collision in the Winnetka area of Los Angeles left two men dead early Tuesday morning after a BMW sedan careened off the road and slammed into a light pole.
The vehicle was traveling westbound on Parthenia Street when the driver lost control, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The impact occurred at the intersection of Sunnybrae Avenue and Parthenia.
Fatalities at the Scene and Hospital
Emergency responders were forced to extricate him from the vehicle before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Speed and Forensic Findings
LAPD investigators determined the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed before it struck the pole.
Early evidence suggests the crash was not fueled by substances. Preliminary findings from the LAPD indicate that neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors.
