UAE Paralympians Secure 14 Medals on Opening Day of the 5th West Asian Para Games – Muscat 2026

Muscat, Oman – ‍The United Arab Emirates’ national Paralympic team delivered a strong⁣ performance⁣ on the first day of⁣ competition at the 5th West ⁢Asian Para Games, held in Muscat, Oman.⁤ The team secured a total of 14 medals, showcasing their dedication and skill on the international stage. The games officially commenced yesterday with a vibrant opening ceremony attended by key officials, including Mohammed Fadel Al Hamli, President of the UAE Paralympic⁣ Committee and Head of the Delegation, and Dhaiban ⁢Salem Al⁣ Muhairi, Secretary-General of the Committee and Delegation Manager.

The silver medals were earned by ⁣a diverse range of athletes: Mohamed Al Kaabi in shot put, Meryam Al Matrooshi in discus throw, Mohamed Youssef othman in the 400-meter wheelchair race (T34 category), Mohamed Wahdani in the⁢ 400-meter ⁤wheelchair race (T54 category), Abdullah Al Musbahi in shot put, Ma’ed Al Lughwani in discus throw,‍ and Ahmed Al Hosni in‍ shot ⁣put.

Adding to‍ the UAE’s success, five bronze medals were awarded to Ahmed Nawad in⁢ the⁣ 400-meter wheelchair race (T34 category), Mohamed Wahdani in the 100-meter wheelchair race (T54⁢ category), Ahmed Nawad again ⁢in the 100-meter wheelchair race (T34 category), Yahya Al Balushi in the 100-meter race (T46/47 ⁢category), and Saham Al Rashidi in the discus throw.
