According to the Ministry of Russian Diplomacy, the three banned organizations are the American Councils for International Education, Cultural Perspectives and the Institute of International Education. According to the information, with the support of the American embassy, ​​they conduct anti-Russian programs and projects aimed at recruiting “agents of influence” under the guise of educational and cultural exchange programs.

The ambassador was called on by the list to stop supporting the activities of the organizations mentioned, which, if continued, would constitute a violation of Russian law, according to the State Department. Part of the Russian demand is to remove from the official website of the American diplomatic mission and social networks the list of educational projects and programs of these organizations, “which aim to promote attitudes and values ​​alien to Russian society.”
