Ambassador Huckabee Condemns Settler Blockade
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee condemned a blockade of Palestinians in the West Bank by Israeli settlers, calling the actions on social media a “terrible terrorist act” and “disgusting.”
The ambassador issued the statement on the social media platform X. He responded to an incident near the Palestinian city of Nablus where a group of Israeli settlers blocked local homes, including a property owned by a United States citizen. Residents and international coverage report that affected families have been cut off from food and essential supplies since Sunday.
“The actions of those who perpetrated this horrible terrorist act to intimidate and harass this family are disgusting,” Huckabee wrote on X, adding that “there is no excuse for such rowdyism.” The sharp rebuke from the US diplomat stands out due to Huckabee’s well-documented history of supporting Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank and his previous opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Israeli Military Intervention Near Nablus
Following diplomatic engagement from Washington, the Israeli army intervened in the area near Nablus. Ambassador Huckabee stated that the military action was undertaken at the direct request of the United States.
