As the 2026 Milan Cortina winter Olympics reach their midpoint, Team USA is firmly in contention for the top spot on the medal table. Following a challenging day on February 14th, where no medals were secured, the U.S. team rebounded strongly,adding a gold,a silver,and a bronze to their tally,bringing their total to 17 medals as of February 14th,6:00 PM EST.

American Medalists Shine on Day 8
Saturday’s success was highlighted by strong performances in freestyle skiing and speed skating. Elizabeth Lemley secured a bronze medal in the women’s dual moguls, marking her second podium finish of the Games.Teammate Jaelin kauf claimed silver in the same event, earning her first medal of the competition.
Jordan Stolz continued his impressive run, adding another gold to the U.S. medal count in the men’s 500-meter speed skating event. He defeated the Netherlands’ Jenning de Boo by a narrow margin. With two gold medals already secured (having previously won the men’s 1000-meter race),Stolz is aiming to emulate Eric Heiden’s achievement of winning three golds at a single Winter Olympics. His next opportunity comes on Thursday in the 1500-meter race.
The Race for the Top
Norway currently leads the overall medal count with 20 medals, including 10 golds. Italy is close behind with 18 medals (6 gold). Team USA is in third place with 17 medals, five of which are gold. Japan (14 medals, 3 gold), France (12 medals, 4 gold), and Austria (12 medals, 3 gold) round out the top five.

The U.S. team began their medal quest on February 8th, securing two gold medals in women’s downhill alpine skiing and the figure skating team event. February 10th and 11th proved to be particularly prosperous days, yielding five medals each. The addition of three more medals on February 14th brings the total to 17.
