Robert F. Kennedy Jr., independent candidate for the US Presidency and member of the prominent Kennedy family, revealed that a medical analysis in 2010 detected a “black spot” on his brain, initially suspected as a tumor.

This information, disclosed by The New York Times, comes from a 2012 court statement during their divorce proceedings.

Kennedy Jr. described that, around the time of diagnosis, he was experiencing memory loss and confusion. However, before a planned surgery, a second doctor determined that the abnormality was actually the remains of a parasite.

“A worm that got into my brain and ate a portion and then died,” Kennedy explained. He suspects the parasite was contracted during a trip to South Asia.

Despite the cognitive and memory problems that followed, Kennedy Jr. recently told the Times that he recovered from his symptoms without specific treatment and is suffering no current repercussions.

A spokesperson for the candidate dismissed concerns about how his health could impact his potential presidency, calling such speculation “hilarious.”

Health and age are key concerns for American voters, especially in a context where the main contenders present advanced age profiles: Joe Biden at 81 years old and Donald Trump at 77.

THE wayward member of the Kennedy clan, 70, is also known for his controversial anti-vaccine positions and for a coronary condition that has hospitalized him several times, although he claims to have had no recent incidents in more than a decade.

Additionally, in the same period that the brain parasite was diagnosed, the politician was treated for mercury poisoning due to high consumption of contaminated fish, which can cause serious neurological problems.

Although Kennedy Jr.’s chances of winning the Presidency are low, his participation in the election could have a significant impact, potentially affecting the outcome for the major political parties.
