After six years as president of Boavista, Vítor Murta announced that he will cease his duties as president of the checkered SAD. “I want to say that I have already communicated to the majority shareholder (Gerárd López) and I will inform the president of the General Council of SAD that I cease my duties as president of SAD”, he said, after the defeat suffered in Bessa (4-0) against Braga , in the press room at Estádio do Bessa.

Vítor Murta explained that he will enter “only into management”. “I understand that at this moment it is important that the focus is on the players and that the fans support the players,” he continued.

During the game against Braga, this Monday, chants were heard asking for Vítor Murta’s resignation and some of an insulting nature, something that affected the then president.

“I understand that I am a destabilizing factor, since people spend more time talking to me, in inappropriate terms, than supporting the team. No one likes coming to the stadium and being mistreated by their team. Therefore, I made my decision. I should have already done this in the game against Gil Vicente. Being treated badly in my own home, I don’t think is acceptable”, he said.

Vítor Murta revealed that he will take “current management actions” and that he will not make “any important decisions regarding Boavista’s destiny”. “Boavista’s registration for next year will no longer pass me by. I wish my successor the best of luck.”

The director explained that he still doesn’t know what he will do with the club, since he is also president of the emblem, alongside SAD. “My mandate ends at the end of this year. I will have to meet with my management to find out what will be done. The club and SAD must go hand in hand. Therefore, I will consider what I am going to do, I have not yet made a decision regarding To the club”.

Vítor Murta said he will not be responsible for paying February’s salaries. “Boavista every month has to find solutions for the present and the past. Every month we have a cost that exceeds one million euros per month. I leave with the players’ salaries up to date. They have already received January and whoever succeeds me will find solutions for February. The employees received December and before I leave, they will receive January. At SAD I will leave with January salaries paid so that nothing will be pointed out to me. During the covid period, I did not layoff and paid employees salaries and allowances “, he stressed.

The leader also left a message for critics. “I hope, from the bottom of my heart, that everyone who was on the bench today insulting the president of their club is right and that whoever succeeds me will be able to better solve Boavista’s problems”, he concluded.
