From today you can register for the meeting Rodiabet Specialist’s time from May 23where we discuss about “Hepatic steatosis: Journey through the metabolic labyrinth“. Three of the best-known Romanian diabetologists will guide us on this trip dedicated exclusively to doctors: emeritus professor Dr. Nicolae Hâncu and prof. dr. Cornelia Bala from UMF Iuliu Hațieganu from Cluj and Prof. Dr. Anca Pantea Stoian from UMF Carol Davila from Bucharest.

Hepatic steatosis is the most common liver disease worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approx 25% of the global population is affected by non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Hepatic steatosis is increasing worldwide, largely due to increases in obesity and type 2 diabetes. Hepatic steatosis can progress to more severe forms of liver disease, such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and even liver cancer.

To help us better understand this complex pathology, we will begin our journey with an essential introduction from Prof. Dr. Anca Pantea Stoianwhich will reveal the secrets of this condition, highlighting the metabolic mechanisms involved and the challenges associated with its diagnosis and management.

Further, Prof. Dr. Nicolae Hâncu will discuss the connection between hepatic steatosis and metabolic syndrome, highlighting their interdependence and implications for patients’ health.

The last part of our journey will guide us to the action and benefits of silymarin under guidance prof. dr. Cornelia Balawhich will give us an insight into this promising remedy in the treatment of hepatic steatosis.
