The local ex-professional takes the top position among seniors 30+ in singles and doubles.

Nice success for Dominik Wirlend: With the 33-year-old, another Austrian has achieved first place in the ITF senior world rankings. The Upper Austrian achieved this in the 30+ age group by triumphing in singles and reaching the final in doubles at the ITF MT1000 clay court event in Manavgat in both rankings of the World Tennis Masters Tour.

Victories also for Haupt-Buchenrode/Hellmonser, Bruggraber and Toth

The highest category tournament in Turkey saw a total of 45 Austrians take part and three more red-white-red winners. Alex Haupt-Buchenrode and partner Harald Hellmonseder won the men’s doubles 70+. And Hildegard Bruggraber also won the doubles competition for the women 65+ (together with the German Katrin Dippner) and Heiderose Toth for the women 75+ (together with the British Phyllis Bentham).

There were second places for Bruggraber in the mixed doubles 65+ (with the Canadian Marc Pepin) and for Andrea Janisch and Traude Schloffer together in the women’s doubles 70+. Peter Pokorny in the men’s singles 80+ and Johannes Mühlenburg in the men’s doubles 80+ also came second.

Wirlend even calls for Kohlschreiber

A show match between the German ex-ATP professional Philipp Kohlschreiber, once number 16 in the world, and the newly crowned senior 30+ world number one Wirlend was also presented on the center court of the tennis facility in Manavgat. In a balanced, high-class match, Wirlend only lost in the match tiebreak.

Congratulations to our successful ÖTV players on their top performances. We are proud of you!
