The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, appealed this Thursday to the “political will” of his allies to continue increasing the shipment of weapons to Ukraine, after a night of bombings on the capital, Kiev, which has resulted in at least 17 injured.

The military head of the Kiev metropolitan region, Sergei Popko, has confirmed on Telegram this provisional balance of victims, of which seven correspond to the Shevchenkiv area and the remaining six to the Sviatoshin area. Four of these injured have been hospitalized.

For his part, the mayor of kyiv, Vitaki Klitschko, has reported that among the properties hit there are homes and an electrical substation. In addition, remains of one of the multiple missiles shot down by the defense systems have fallen on the premises of a daycare center.

In total, Ukrainian forces have shot down “more than 30 missiles,” including several air-launched ballistic missiles, according to Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky, who has lamented on social media that “terror continues day and night” and spreads. throughout the country, without distinction.

Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba has directly called on the United States Congress to “unblock” the military aid package to Ukraine, with the aim of “saving lives, protecting freedom and defeating Russian terror.”

Zelensky reiterated this Thursday the request to his Western allies to have more anti-aircraft systems, after Russia launched a barrage of missiles against kyiv that injured 17 people.

The Ukrainian military said it shot down 31 Russian missiles aimed at the capital, an attack that comes after Moscow promised retaliation for the escalation of Ukrainian bombing in Russian border regions.

“This terror continues day and night,” Zelensky said in a message on Telegram.

“It is possible to end it with global unity,” he added.

“Ukraine needs this protection now. From kyiv to Kharkiv, from Sumy to Kherson, from Odessa to the Donetsk region. It is entirely possible if our partners show sufficient political will,” he insisted.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the remains of the missiles injured 17 people, 13 in the capital and 4 in its surroundings.

The Ukrainian military said that Russia fired two Iskander ballistic missiles and 29 cruise missiles.

All the missiles were shot down, he said.

Zelensky posted a video showing windows of residential buildings smashed and debris littering the streets, and firefighters putting out a fire.

It is the first major attack against kyiv and its region since January and comes after Ukraine has multiplied its bombing in the Russian border region of Belgorod. Russian officials vowed to take revenge for these actions.
