  • The fact that Biedronka gives away oil practically for free can be explained by the marketing war that this food chain has been conducting with its main competitor – Lidl – for several weeks.
  • Another theory says that the chain wants to get rid of oil that customers do not want to buy. The Polish Oil Producer is on the list of companies that could import grain from Ukraine, which we recently described in Onet
  • To take advantage of the promotional offer for oil, you need to take two bottles. Then we will get the second one for free, and for the first one they will add 10% extra at the checkout. discount
  • More similar texts can be found on the Onet home page

We saw the above offer for “Olej Polski” brand oil on Friday, March 1, in Biedronka chain stores in Zakopane, Nowy Targ, Białka Tatrzańska and Kraków. However, a similar offer is probably available in most Polish stores of this chain.

As we read on the leaflet attached to the product, the oil is sold at a regular price of PLN 3.99 per bottle. However, if someone takes a second bottle, they will not only get it for free, but also activate a 10% discount. for the first package. This will then cost PLN 3.59.

– This means that the promotion for the second bottle is 110%. — the promotion was explained by employees of the Biedronka store in Białka Tatrzańska. — To take advantage of this offer, you must have the “my Biedronka” tab. The limit of oils purchased under one receipt is 4 pieces.

Tomasz Mateusiak / Onet Promotion for Polish Oil in Biedronka

Why is it so cheap. There are two theories

Store employees do not want to comment on the idea of giving away oil to customers for free. They say that the promotion was decided by the company’s headquarters. However, they unofficially admit that oil, which has become much cheaper in recent months, is selling poorly today. The offer may be the chain’s idea to clear out its warehouses. Polish Oil, which is offered in Biedronka with a 110% discount, is produced by Komagra. For several days now, people have been warning each other online that the oil may come from rapeseed from Ukraine, which is subject to different standards than European ones.

The Komagra company belongs to former PSL senator Zbigniew Komorowski. The billionaire is listed in 13th place in the latest ranking of the 100 Richest Poles by Forbes magazine.

Komagra is at the top of the list of companies that were supposed to import grain from Ukraine to Poland. Onet was the first to confirm that it is largely authentic. In a conversation with us, the Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski (also PSL), noted that some companies may have been listed on it incorrectly.

Therefore, on February 19, we asked Komagra whether it produced Polish Oil from rapeseed that did not come from our country. The answer has not come to this day.

The fact that Biedronka gives away oil practically for free can also be explained by the marketing war that this food chain has been conducting with its main competitor – Lidl – which has been going on for several weeks.

PR companies serving both chains compete with each other to prove to customers that their companies offer the lowest prices to consumers. A few days ago, Lidl was giving away meat for free (under certain conditions). When you bought one portion of minced pork, you got the second one for free.

Biedronka’s promotion with oil may therefore be a response to the competition’s offer.
