Helwan University issued an official statement regarding preventing Sarah Hisham, a student at the Faculty of Computers and Information, who suffers from cancer, from taking exams.

She explained that the college administration followed everything that was circulated regarding the student, and was careful not to respond on social media in order to preserve the privacy of the student’s condition, but since the matter was published in media outlets, the following must be clarified:

1- No college official, whoever he may be, can take any decision regarding whether or not to expel a student, and this can only be done by the decision of the College Council.

2- The college does not accept trading in the psychological, moral, and scientific support it provides to our students who are going through special health conditions or who are people of determination, noting that the university provides full medical support to all students in Helwan University hospitals or outside it.

3- The university cares about the condition of our children with disabilities, and not just those who are experiencing health conditions, especially since His Excellency the President of the University has appointed an advisor for people with disabilities.

4- We sympathize with all humanitarian situations, but we cannot violate the law or turn a blind eye to any attempt to implicate the college in any violation.
secondly:

1- The College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence is a regular college with an attendance rate of no less than 75% of the lectures. If the absence rate exceeds 25%, the student is prohibited from attending the exam.

6- The student did not accept academic advice to make an excuse for the first semester in accordance with the regulations out of concern for her academic future, as the regulations stipulate in Article 11B: The student is credited with a period of interruption from study with an acceptable excuse for two consecutive semesters or four non-consecutive semesters.
