Saturday afternoon brought storms to our territory. Even though they weren’t much counted on, they eventually gained strength and brought thousands of lightning bolts. They also caused damage, they will declare a state of emergency in Partizánske. Where did the storms occur and where can we expect them during Sunday?
An indistinct pressure field is maintained over our area today in the warmer air. A clear or only partly cloudy sky prevailed over most of Slovakia.
It was also pleasantly warm. In the southern districts, the temperature rose to above +27 °C. Temperatures were above +20 °C in the north of the country as well.
Weather report it was largely filled on Saturday. However, they were surprised by the storms.
The chance of their occurrence was small. Finally, the first of them applied for the floor in the north-west of Slovakia. However, more and more were added over time.
Thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening
Southeast of Trenčín clouds began to form after 12:30 p.m., which indicated the possible occurrence of storms. It advanced to the northwest, but did not bring storms.
The first storms occurred after 14:00 hz of the “new cloud” that formed just a few kilometers north of the first one. The first lightning discharge was recorded from it, between municipalities Upper Boruba a Lower Boruba.
These storms gained strength and produced nearly 60 lightning strikes. At the same time, another cloud formed a few kilometers further south, from which storms also occurred. It happened not far away Partizansky.
The storm increased during the day. They were mainly found on the border between central and western Slovakia. Before 8 p.m., more than 2,420 bolts of lightning struck them.

They will declare a state of emergency
A cloudburst caused damage to residents’ property and the cultural center in the Partizánske Návojovce district on Saturday afternoon. In these moments, the crisis team will be meeting in the city, they will declare a state of emergency. Mayor Jozef Božik stated this for TASR.
The water flooded several cellars and other premises. The mayor could not estimate the amount of damage. He added that they are removing the damage.
Thunderstorms should also be expected on Sunday
While storms were not expected today, they will be during the course of tomorrow. In the warm and moist air, a weak pressure field will continue to be maintained over our area.
