LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani went 4-4, with two home runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 5-1 on Sunday to sweep the three-game series.
Ohtani hit a curveball from Braves starter Max Fried 412 feet over the center field fence for a two-run homer in the first inning. He added a pair of singles in the third and sixth before homering again in the eighth with a 464-footer off reliever AJ Minter.
It was Ohtani’s first two-homer game with the Dodgers and the 17th of his career. He also tied a career-high with four hits and is tied for the major league lead with 10 home runs this season.
Dominican Teoscar Hernández added a two-run homer and James Paxton took a shutout into the seventh for the Dodgers. Paxton (4-0) pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing five hits, two walks and three strikeouts to remain undefeated this season.
For the Braves, the Venezuelans Ronald Acuña Jr. 3-0, Orlando Arcia 3-1. Dominican Marcell Ozuna was 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.
For the Dodgers, Dominican Hernández was 1 for 4 with one run scored and one RBI. Puerto Rican Kike Hernández 4-0. Venezuelan Miguel Rojas 3-0.
