One billion and thirty-five million CFA francs, almost two billion dollars, is how much the President of Côte D’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, decided to spend to reward the National Team and the Ivorian Football Federation for the title won in the recently concluded 34th edition of the African Football Cup of Nations, which the country organized.
The Ivorian Head of State guaranteed a prize of 50 million francs (around 68 million in kwanzas) and a house of the same value for each player on the team.
Alassane Ouattara also guaranteed 400 million francs for members of the technical team, in addition to 100 million francs for the interim head coach, Emersé Faé, and 300 million for the Ivoirense Football Federation.
