Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has issued an order banning the use of potable water for washing cars and gardening in Bengaluru due to acute water shortage. Karnataka also banned the use of drinking water for various purposes such as construction work and maintenance. The Karnataka Water Supply and Sewerage Board (KWSSB) has also decided to impose a fine of Rs 5,000 for violations.

Before April and May, Bengaluru city is suffering from severe water shortage. Over 3,000 borewells across the city dried up due to deficient rainfall during the last monsoon season. Water usage has been restricted in apartments and complexes. Many people started posting on social media asking for water. After the drinking water shortage, BJP leaders also came forward blaming the ruling party Congress.
