BANGKOK, KOMPAS.com – A man from England accidentally met another person who looked very much like him on a flight from London to Bangkok, Thailand, recently.
The man’s name was Mark Garland (58).
He told British media, South West News Service (SWNS), that another meeting with Mark Garland occurred on March 2.

The bus driver, from Trowbridge, Wiltshire, was initially told by officers at the airport that he had checked in for his flight. He also felt confused.
Only later did the flight staff realize that there were two Mark Garlands on the same flight.
The other Mark Garlands is known to be a 62-year-old builder from Warmley, Bristol.
They are reportedly very similar with the same characteristics of having the same bald head.
The younger Mark explained that the check-in officer apparently did not cross-check the booking number and registered people who looked like him.
“I stood at the check-in counter for 40 minutes while they tried to sort out the problem. We both then had to go to the departure gate early to identify our cases,” lamented the younger Mark.
That’s when the two people met in person, an experience that made them reflect on themselves.
“I was surprised at how strange it was,” the younger Mark said of the first time he saw another Mark on the plane.
“I said, ‘look, I’m Mark Garland’, while showing my passport, and he (another Mark) started laughing and opened his passport and showed me his name, and it was a joke,” he said.

The older Mark was also amazed by the meeting.
“It was crazy. I never knew anything like that, but he was a little bigger than me,” said the construction worker.
He then teased mischievously.
“I seem to be better looking,” the older Mark said with a laugh.
He continued to enjoy the moment.
“He’s like me, I have character and I like to amaze people – we’re the same,” he said.
Younger Mark and older Mark coincidentally decided to travel to Thailand for a four and three week vacation.
More similarities
While on the plane, they sat next to each other.
The two then chatted during the 11.5-hour flight, during which time they realized they had more in common than just names and looks.
The two only lived 15 minutes apart and had unknowingly crossed paths before, like ships passing in the night.
“I’m a bus driver, and Mark said he sometimes uses my bus,” Mark said.
Apart from that, the two men also have four children, although the bus driver, Mark, has never been married, while Mark, a construction worker, is separated.
They even know some of the same people.

“One of my work colleagues knew him and often had drinks in the pub with him,” says the younger Mark.
Both of them also love Thailand and each of them has visited this Southeast Asian country dozens of times.
“I told him I’d been there 13 times and he said he’d been there 83 times,” the elder Mark said.
By the end of the flight, the pair had become so inseparable that the younger Mark managed to “sleep” for a while on his shoulder.
Both Marks now believe that this is the beginning of a permanent bond.
“It (their chance meeting) made me happy,” said the bus driver, who plans to keep in touch with the older Mark and meet in Thailand.
