Two injured after armed attack in Rosemont

Two young men in their twenties were injured in an armed attack on Wednesday evening in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough, in Montreal.

According to the City of Montreal Police Service (SPVM), the attack occurred around 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of rue d’Iberville and rue Jourdain.

At the crime scene, police located a 25-year-old man.

“He was conscious and he was injured in the upper body by a sharp object,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils. He was transported to a hospital,” but there is no fear for his life.

“In the meantime, another victim, a 27-year-old man, presented himself at the neighborhood station in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie district,” added the SPVM spokesperson. He had injured his upper body by physical force. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

According to the SPVM, a conflict in an apartment near rue d’Iberville could have degenerated. The two men knew each other. However, their involvement and role in the event are unknown at this time.

At the end of the evening, the SPVM spokesperson indicated that the life of the 25-year-old man was not threatened “despite his significant injuries”.

The police erected a security perimeter to protect the crime scene. Investigators and a forensic identification technician are on site to try to understand the causes and circumstances of the event.
