€950,000 Crystal Meth and Cannabis Seized in Dublin Airport Luggage Bust

Law enforcement authorities at Dublin Airport seized more than €950,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine and herbal cannabis from a passenger’s luggage after a flight from Canada arrived on Sunday. A woman in her 50s was detained following the discovery, which involved vacuum-packed packages concealed inside two large suitcases.

Revenue customs officers, aided by a detector dog named Charlie, uncovered the illicit cargo during routine baggage checks following the transatlantic flight.

According to reports from Echo Live, the total seizure comprises an estimated 29 kilograms of herbal cannabis and 6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. Visuals released from the scene showed multiple vacuum-sealed bags spilling out of large travel luggage.

Drug Valuations and Currency Conversions

Revenue officials estimated the herbal cannabis alone is worth approximately €584,000, while the crystal methamphetamine accounts for more than €368,000.

Reporting by Daily Mail noted that the combined haul equates to roughly £813,000 in British currency. This includes an estimated £500,000 for the cannabis portion and approximately £315,000 for the crystal meth inventory.

Detention and Ongoing Investigation

Following the discovery in the arrival terminal, the passenger was immediately taken into custody. Authorities confirmed that the woman, whose age falls into her 50s, is currently being held at Dublin Garda Station.

Her detention is being managed under the provisions of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, which grants law enforcement extended questioning periods for suspected large-scale drug offenses. Revenue enforcement teams stated that their criminal investigation remains active.
