Epic Games has figured out how to return to the iOS interface, thanks to which Fortnite can be played again on iPhone phones and Apple tablets.

17.02.2024 – Well, it seems that the free games in the Epic Games Store will not only be available on a computer. According to Eurogamer, Epic Games is starting to develop the mobile version of the Epic Games Store so that the company can appear on iOS systems in Europe. The company has now officially received the Apple Developer account, which may also mean that there are no obstacles. The launch of the store also marks the return of Fortnite to iPhones, years after the previous version was shut down. It happened that Epic Games bypassed the Apple Store and gave players the opportunity to pay in-game, which Apple resented. A huge lawsuit started, of which the Fortnite players drank the juice, of course.

Epic recently announced plans to launch the Epic Games Store on iOS in 2024, operated by Epic Games Sweden.

Good news?

Incidentally, the news came shortly after Apple confirmed in January that it would comply with new European Union rules and open the possibility for sideloading and alternative marketplaces on Apple devices. However, due to the introduction of the rules, developers like Epic still have to pay for every download. Despite all this, however, the way to open a mobile Store should be clear for Epic.

“We look forward to making Epic’s great mobile games, as well as apps from other developers, available to customers in the European Union through Epic Games Store Mobile” – he wrote on the Epic site.

Along with that, Epic also recently published a statistic that the Epic Game Store had 75 million monthly active users in December 2023, who spent $950 million in the online store. Of that amount, $310 million was spent on third-party games — meaning the remainder was spent on Epic titles. A part of this amount is probably made up of the sales of Alan Wake 2, and of course Fortnite. Last year, Epic gave users 86 free games anyway.

Among the novelties coming to the Epic Games Store in 2024 will be the new download manager, which can be used to set what the system downloads when. There will be an improved offline mode, developers and publishers will be supported, and pre-orderers will be able to preload games.
