A Surge in North American Relocation
Several European nations are experiencing a significant influx of residents from North America. Here’s a closer look:
* United States: Denmark and Switzerland were notably popular, issuing 4,339 first residence permits to US citizens. You’ll also find americans establishing themselves in France, Estonia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Iceland, and the Netherlands.Specifically,1,083 moved to Norway,2,746 to Sweden,and 1,250 to Austria.
* Canada: A total of 15,400 Canadians obtained residency permits, with France being the top destination. Spain and the Netherlands also proved attractive, with 1,883 and an undisclosed number of permits issued respectively. France saw a substantial increase, granting 3,461 first-time permits, while Spain nearly doubled its pre-pandemic numbers.
* Australia: Approximately 9,400 Australians received permits, with the Netherlands, France, and Germany leading the way. France issued 1,235 permits, closely followed by germany at 1,164. However,Sweden saw a slight dip in Australian residency applications compared to pre-pandemic levels.

* India: A remarkable 192,445 Indian citizens were granted first-time residency permits across the EU in 2024. Germany was the most popular destination, welcoming 33,813 individuals, followed by italy (19,960) and France (10,804).
* New Zealand: 2,701 New Zealanders were granted permits,with France (287) and Spain (356) being favored locations. The Netherlands also attracted a significant number, exceeding 600, while Sweden (132) and Switzerland (145) saw over 100 Kiwi arrivals each.
* South Africa: Around 10,600 South Africans moved to Europe, with the Netherlands being the primary destination (3,729). France and Spain each welcomed approximately 500, and Sweden granted just over 300 permits.
* Nigeria: Over 32,000 Nigerian nationals received residency permits, with Italy (9,321) and Germany (6,205) issuing the most. Spain and France each granted around 2,500 permits.
