Celebrating Animation Excellence at the SCAD Festival
This year’s festival will pay tribute to the masterminds behind beloved animated series and films. Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, the creators of the wildly popular “Phineas and Ferb,” will receive special awards.

Recognizing Rising Stars: The 27th Emerging Cinematographer Awards
The 27th Annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards will spotlight the exceptional work of Johanna Coelho and Sandra Valde-Hansen. These talented cinematographers are being honored for their dedication and impact on the film and television landscape.Stephen Lighthill will present the American Society of Cinematographers Mentor Award to Valde-Hansen, recognizing her guidance and support of fellow filmmakers. Coelho, meanwhile, will receive the Distinguished Filmmaker Award, acknowledging her outstanding achievements.
Both honorees will be celebrated at a special awards event on September 28th, followed by a luncheon at the American Society of Cinematographers clubhouse on September 26th.
A Look at the honorees’ work
Johanna Coelho is currently filming season two of HBO MAX’s “The Pitt.” Her previous credits include work on seasons two and four of ABC’s “The Rookie” and the film “All Happy Families.”
Sandra Valde-Hansen is a filipina-American cinematographer with a diverse portfolio. You may recognize her work on “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “Plan B,” and Gregg Araki’s films like “Now Apocalypse” and “kaboom.”
Showcasing the Next Generation of Filmmakers
The International Cinematographers Guild will also be showcasing the work of eight emerging filmmakers. These winning films were selected from a pool of 100 submissions, highlighting the astounding talent within the industry.
