The decommissioned push-pulls should begin to return to operation at the end of May.

Part of the modern Škoda 13Ev three-car push-pull trainsets were replaced on the busy S6 line between Ostrava and Frýdlant nad Ostravicí Regionovy. External communications specialist Filip Medelský confirmed this to Deník Zdopravy.cz on behalf of České dráhy (ČD).

According to Medelský, due to extraordinary events, two push-pulls were shut down at one point, which, together with common short-term failures and malfunctions, created operational pressure to ensure capacity.

“In order to cover the performance in non-traction push-pull sets, five of these units are needed on weekdays and four on weekends. For that reason, we started deploying, also based on the customer’s request to ensure at least partial barrier-free access, units of the 814 series, which are capable of covering the requirements on the track,” stated Medelský, stating that the deployment of the Regions takes place with reduced compensation from the Moravian-Silesian Region

As Medelský added, the current plan is that the now shut-down push-pulls should begin to return to operation at the end of May.

České dráhy operates non-traction push-pull sets in conjunction with a diesel locomotive of the 750.7 series (Brejlovec), until line 323 is electrified. The sets consist of three-story air-conditioned cars, they can run with both motor and electric locomotives.
