KOMPAS.com – Social media timelines are being filled with videos showing a child being forced by his father to exercise on a treadmill because he is considered too fat.

In the video recording, it appears that the child fell several times while lying face down, but was still forced to continue running on the treadmill.

Quoted from USA Today, this incident took place in New Jersey, United States (US) in 2021.

The 6 year old boy was then reported to have died, less than two weeks after the incident, on April 2 2021 to be precise.

The Ocean County (NJ) Prosecutor’s Office charged his father, Christopher Gregor, 31, with attempted murder in March 2022, after a nearly year-long investigation into the boy’s death.

He would face life in prison if convicted of attempting to murder his son, Corey Micciolo.

Video shows Gregor forcing his son to exercise

During the trial, Superior Court in Ocean City was shown surveillance video of Gregor forcing Corey to run on a treadmill and of the boy falling several times due to the excessive speed of the exercise machine.

Gregor and his son were seen on March 20, 2021 entering the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse fitness center, when the boy was immediately placed on a treadmill and started to run, according to video obtained by CourtTV.com.

The footage shows Gregor walking onto a treadmill to increase speed and increase the incline of the track, reported by the New York Times.

The sudden change was too much for the small child’s legs, causing him to fall and slide off the moving lane.

Gregor is seen lifting his son and placing him back on the treadmill, which results in Corey’s legs folding back as Gregor appears to bite Corey’s head.

The boy got back up, but fell again and continued to struggle to stay on the treadmill. In the end, Gregor reduced the speed of the treadmill.

The boy’s mother, Bre Micciolo, was the first witness to come forward, and cried while watching the horrific video.

Days before her son’s death, Bre Micciolo reported the boy’s injuries to the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

On April 1, she requested that Gregor take their son to the doctor.

At the appointment, Corey reportedly said that his father made him run on the treadmill “because he was too fat.”

The next day, Gregor took the boy to hospital because the child woke up from his nap delirious with incoherent words and experienced nausea and shortness of breath.

Had a seizure

During the CT scan, Corey experienced a seizure and medical staff took life-saving measures, but to no avail.

An initial autopsy found Corey died from blunt force injuries with heart and liver contusions accompanied by acute inflammation and sepsis.

Gregor was later arrested in July 2021 on child neglect charges stemming from investigators reviewing surveillance footage from the gym.

“Specifically by having (Corey) run on a treadmill and increasing the speed causing (Corey) to fall, placing (him) back on the moving treadmill while appearing to bite his head causing the child to fall several more times,” the arrest warrant states read.

In September 2021, a forensic pathologist ruled Corey’s death a homicide because he suffered from chronic abuse, including blunt force injuries to the chest and abdomen with lacerations to the heart, left lung contusions, and lacerations and bruising to his liver.
