GAZA – A high official of the resistance movement Houthi Yemen has warned of a wider escalation of attacks if Israel launches a full-scale invasion of the densely populated southern city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.

Allama Muhammad Muftah, advisor to the President of the Supreme Political Council and Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the National Campaign in Support of al-Aqsa said, “Israel’s escalation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and their threat to attack Rafah will be hugely met with Yemen’s response and the launch of the fourth round of escalation. “

He referred to the Yemeni army’s new phase of retaliatory operations against Israeli ships as a form of solidarity with the Palestinian people facing Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza.

“If there is an escalation [di Rafah]”The decision of the Yemeni armed forces is clear, and a wider escalation is possible,” he told al-Masirah TV channel.

The Israeli military intensified bombardment on the city of Rafah accompanied by ground attacks shortly after Hamas agreed to a ceasefire proposal in Gaza.

Muftah further noted that the group’s likely escalation would be “a response to any Israeli boldness, whether attacks on Yemen, Gaza, or any inch of occupied Palestinian territory.”

The Houthi threat of a wider escalation of attacks “will bear fruit and will achieve its objectives and will force the enemy to think a lot about their next actions and revise their calculations before taking any action.”
