Coach Herdman,50,brings with him a wealth of experience and a distinguished UEFA Pro License. He stands uniquely as the only coach globally to guide both the men’s and women’s national teams of a single nation to FIFA World Cup appearances, immediately raising expectations for his impact.
John Herdman: A Legacy of Revitalization
The name John Herdman is deeply associated with the resurgence of Canadian soccer. Between 2018 and 2023, he spearheaded the Canadian men’s national team, culminating in their historic qualification for the 2022 Qatar World Cup – a feat they hadn’t achieved in 36 years.
During his leadership, the Canadian team demonstrated significant growth, reaching a then-historic top 40 FIFA ranking in 2021 and establishing dominance within the CONCACAF region.
