Julia Garner has been cast in the upcoming thriller Tyrant, alongside Charlize Theron.
The 31-year-old actress will star with Theron, 50, in the film directed by David Weil for Amazon MGM Studios, Deadline reports.
Weil, known for creating the Amazon Prime Video series Hunters, also wrote the story for Tyrant with Cody Behan.
While specific plot details remain undisclosed, the film is expected to be similar in tone to Whiplash (2014), starring Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons, and will be set within New York City’s competitive culinary scene.
Production is slated to begin later in 2024, now that the two leads have been confirmed.
Theron will not only star in Tyrant but will also produce through her production company, Secret Menu, alongside partners Beth Kono and A.J. Dix. Weil and his producing partner, Natalie Laine Williams, will also produce, along with Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona of The Picture Company.
Garner recently starred in Wolf Man, and has upcoming roles in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Weapons, both scheduled for release in 2025.
