The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) has published its latest report on foreign trade, revealing a notable rebound in national meat exports during the first three months of the current year. According to the statistics presented, the value of meat exports has seen an increase of 4.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching a total of USD 340 million in March.

Despite this growth in terms of turnover, a slight decrease has been observed in the volume of beef exports, being 0.7% lower than in March 2023, with a total of 70,500 tons sent to the international market.

The data revealed shows that traditional markets continue to be the main destinations for our red protein, with Chile leading with a 43.9% share of the total exported value, followed by Brazil, Taiwan, Israel and Russia. However, the incursion into the US market has been highlighted, although with challenges due to political conflicts that have affected export expectations to that destination.

Regarding the average price, an increase of 4.9% has been registered compared to the same period of the previous year, with Brazil being the country that paid the best for Paraguayan meat in March 2024, with an implicit price of USD 6,165 per ton.

Although fluctuations are observed in export volumes and values, in general, the dynamics of beef exports have maintained relative stability, with a slight variation in the main markets and prices.

This positive performance in the first quarter of the year reflects the resilience and competitiveness of the country’s agricultural and livestock sector in the international meat market.
