On Wednesday, February 21, the Het Boodschappenhoekje Foundation will start something new: quilting! You know how it is, sewing pieces of fabric together with a filling in between, and that’s how you make a beautiful blanket. It is the perfect mix of aesthetics and functionality, from old bedspreads to modern art.
When quilting we are going to put three layers of textile together: a top layer, which can be a whole piece of fabric or a patchwork of small pieces, an intermediate layer for volume and warmth (choose synthetic or natural material such as cotton or wool), and a cotton underlayer. We stitch them together with careful stitches, which not only creates strength but also a beautiful decoration.
The quilting classes are every Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Everyone is welcome! Customers of the foundation participate for free, non-customers pay only 2.00 euros. We are on Bivouac 1, first floor (the entrance is at the rear). Just come in!
