After a prolonged cold snap, New York City finally saw temperatures above freezing on monday. However, a significant warm-up isn’t expected in the immediate future.
The temperature in Central Park reached 34 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday afternoon,ending a nine-day streak of temperatures below freezing. While a lengthy cold period, this doesn’t approach the city’s record of 16 consecutive days below 32°F set in 1961, or the 14 days experienced in 2018.
Tuesday will remain chilly, though less extreme than last week, with temperatures in the low 30s. Similar temperatures are forecast through Friday.While not spring-like, conditions will be milder than previously experienced.
