Rose Lavelle Named 2025 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year

Lavelle⁤ Named U.S.⁤ Soccer Female ⁢Player of the⁣ Year

New‍ York, NY ⁣- U.S.‍ Women’s National Team midfielder Rose Lavelle has been awarded the 2025 U.S.Soccer Female Player of the Year, recognizing her outstanding contributions to both the national team and her club, Gotham FC.

Despite an ‍injury that sidelined her for the first half of the year, the 30-year-old Lavelle ⁢played a pivotal role in Gotham⁤ FC’s championship run, culminating in a 1-0 victory over the⁣ Washington Spirit to claim the NWSL title.

In her six appearances for the USWNT in 2025, Lavelle demonstrated her attacking prowess, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Her performance earned her 29.2% of the weighted vote, surpassing ⁢fellow nominees Sam Coffey (23.9%) and⁣ Catarina Macario (22.3%).

“When‍ I look at the past year, it feels like a testament to the ‍support system I had,” Lavelle‍ stated. “I wouldn’t have been in the ⁣position ‍to even be up for the award without all of the support I received just to get⁣ back on the field. this award⁢ is definitely shared with everyone who helped me along the way.”

Adding to ⁢the accolades, Rose Lavelle’s Gotham FC teammate, Lilly Reale, was named the ⁣2025 U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year. Reale enjoyed a breakout season,starting in all 26 of Gotham’s regular-season matches and‍ earning NWSL Rookie of the year honors. ‍She secured 48% ⁢of the vote for the Young Player award, with jordyn Bugg (29.6%) and micayla Johnson (16.1%) following behind.

“I am constantly reminded of how special this national team ‍program is,” Reale commented. “U.S. Soccer has given me so ⁢many opportunities over the years.”
