As part of the 16th edition of the Meknes International Agricultural Show (SIAM), a roadmap was signed between the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki and his French counterpart Marc Fesneau, Monday April 22, 2024.

This roadmap concerns the development of cooperation and partnership in the agricultural and forestry fields. It makes it possible to strengthen Morocco-France collaboration in terms of sustainable development, and to enable it to achieve fruitful results in terms of the emergence of political, sectoral, economic, technical, technological, educational and scientific cooperation.

The emphasis is mainly placed on agriculture, the forestry and agri-food sectors, key elements in the economy, society and sustainable development of the two countries.

Numerous agreements signed at the end of this meeting

The first framework partnership agreement was concluded between the National Interprofessional Federation of Seeds and Plants (FNIS) of Morocco and the Agricultural Interprofession of Seeds and Plants (SEMAE) of France. This agreement aims to establish the framework for collaboration between FNIS and SEMAE to support the development of the seeds and plants industry in Morocco.

The second framework agreement was signed between the Interprofessional Federation of Cereal Activities (FIAC) and Inter-Cereals France. Its aim is to support FIAC from the initial phase of its development projects, to contribute to their implementation and to provide continuous support throughout the process, from design to completion.

The third framework agreement was sealed between the Interprofessional Federation of the Milk Sector (MAROC LAIT) and the National Interprofessional Livestock and Meat Association (INTERBEV). This partnership aims to establish a cooperation framework between Maroc Lait and Interbev to support the development of dairy production in Morocco.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the National Sheep and Goat Association (ANOC), Races Ovines des Massifs Sélection (ROM Sélection), and the Auvergne Rhône Alpes Regional Chamber of Agriculture. The objective of this protocol is to consolidate and develop professional cooperation in the sheep/goat sector between Morocco and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in France.

As part of the project to create a regional technical center for the development of oilseed production in Morocco, a memorandum of understanding was signed, benefiting the Interprofessional Federation of Oilseeds (FOLEA). This project aims to strengthen the technical and organizational capacities of upstream actors in the sector by establishing a regional technical center, thus promoting the sustainable development of the Moroccan oilseed industry.

Furthermore, the National Institute of Higher Education for Agriculture, Food and the Environment in France and the National School of Agriculture of Meknes in Morocco have signed a framework agreement for inter-university cooperation. This agreement aims to promote cooperation in the fields of research and education, strengthen scientific partnerships, and encourage exchanges of teachers, researchers and students.

At the same time, a framework cooperation agreement was concluded between the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute and the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) with a view to promoting the progress of knowledge , science as well as social and economic development.

Finally, a letter of intent was signed between the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE ​​France) in order to collaborate in the implementation place of an associated international laboratory (LIA) focused on the valorization of biomass and organic waste and microalgae for the production of energy, animal feed and fertilizers/biostimulants.
