The development of the regional energy efficiency plan for the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region was recently launched, announced the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima Regional Council.
The Council, in partnership with the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE), the wilaya of the region and in collaboration with the government of Andalusia, launched the operation to develop the regional energy efficiency plan and to reduce carbon emissions in the region, under the framework convention concluded at the 2023 Mediterranean Climate Conference of the Parties (MedCOP), indicates a press release from the Regional Council.
The official meeting to launch the development of the plan saw the participation and presence of representatives of various external services and institutional actors concerned with the environment, the economy and sustainable development, the press release added.
This project, included in the 2022-2027 regional development program, is part of the strategic vision for sustainable economic development and a transition to a green economy at the regional level.
The plan aims to develop a regional strategy for energy efficiency and to promote the use of renewable energies in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, as well as to encourage public and private initiatives linked to the development of renewable energies and to energy saving.
In this context, the Council of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region undertakes to provide the financial and human resources necessary to implement the programs and projects included in this environmental and sustainable development context.
