Long faces in the stands of the ATP tournament in Madrid: Instead of two quarter-finals, the visitors only saw a single set on Thursday. After Australian Open winner Jannick Sinner (Italy) had skipped his match against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime the day before due to a hip injury, Russian Daniiel Medvedev gave up after the first set in his duel with Czech Jiri Lehecka.

Medvedev was obviously unable to continue the match due to thigh problems. Before his task, the former world number one took a break for treatment. Lehecka won the first set 6:4.
