Microsoft has released a new test version of Windows 11. This build includes support for Wi-Fi 7. The software giant has also fixed some bugs via Insider Preview Build 26063.

Microsoft writes in a blog post that Wi-Fi 7 is only available on devices with Wi-Fi 7 hardware. These devices must therefore be connected to a Wi-Fi 7 access point. The company also points to the Wi-Fi Alliance, which started certifying Wi-Fi 7 devices at the beginning of this year.

The software giant reports that sixteen new actions have been added to Microsoft Copilot, on top of the thirteen actions that were already active. Microsoft also fixed some bugs, including one that caused an incorrect network icon to be displayed in the Windows 11 system tray for users with an active VPN connection.

Wi-Fi 7 is the latest generation of Wi-Fi technology that has faster speed and double the bandwidth than Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E. The standard offers, among other things, 320MHz channel widths, support for the 6GHz frequency band and Multi-Link Operation. The latter feature, also known as MLO, allows devices to connect to the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands simultaneously for higher throughput speeds and lower latency. Tweakers previously wrote a hands-on and background article about Wi-Fi 7.
