Jakarta – There is a history which says that one of the grandchildren of the Prophet Muhammad did not receive a shroud when he died. Apparently, there is a touching reason behind this statement.

The two grandchildren of Rasulullah SAW whom he loved very much, namely Husain and Hasan. However, only Sayyidina Husain did not get the shroud.

Quoted from the book You are the one I love the most the work of Haji Lalu Ibrahim, Rasulullah SAW once explained, whoever loves Hasan and Husain, he is loved by the prophet. On the other hand, the person who hates Hasan and Husain, he is hated by the prophet.

Husain is Hasan’s brother who is the son of Fatimah Az-Zahra and Ali bin Abi Talib as quoted from the book biography of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani by Alfi Arifian.

The Sad Story of the Prophet’s Grandson Who Couldn’t Get the Shroud from Jibril

The story of Husain’s death was actually dreamed by Ummul Fadhl bint al-Harith and then reported by the Prophet SAW, in her dream, Husain was killed in a tragedy called Karbala.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW said, “Jibril came to see me and told me that one day my people would kill my grandson.” Ummul Fadhl bint al-Harits asked, “This is your grandson?”

Prophet Muhammad SAW. answered, “Yes! And Jibril also brought me a handful of red earth from the land (where he was killed) Husain.” (HR Judge)

Quoting from the book Crying with the Prophet by Erwin Umar, the Karbala tragedy is a sad event in the history of Muslim warfare, specifically when the Umayyads fell at the hands of Yazid bin Mu’awiyah. In this tragedy, Husain’s head was cut off and then played with like a child’s ball, kicked and dragged with humiliation.

On the book The Locked Mouth: 50 Heartwarming Stories of the Prophet’s Companions by Siti Nurlaela, this unfortunate incident began when Muslims were angry with Yazid, because he was a corrupt person. Apart from that, he was also a drinker of khamr (wine) and pleased himself with his monkeys and dogs.

Apart from that, Yazid also obtained his position because of the legacy of his father, Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan. This is contrary to the principles of the Prophet Muhammad.

In Mecca, Husain received many letters from the residents of Kufa. The letters contained their support for Husain. They asked Husain for support and asked him to come to Kufa and be crowned caliph.

At that time, Husain was in Medina. Then, he sent his cousin, Muslim bin Aqil, to Kufa as his ambassador or representative. Husain asked his cousin to stay in Kufa.

In the end, Muslim bin Aqil lived with Al Mukhtar. The people of Kufa heard of his arrival, then flocked to meet Husain’s messenger and were willing to establish divine rule. However, it turns out everything was just a lie.

According to the book The Great History of Hasan and Husain the work of Ukasyah Habibu Ahmad, Husain headed to Kufah. After arriving in the Bathnur Rummah area, he wrote a letter to the people of Kufah to inform them that he had arrived in Bathnur Rummah.

He then sent Qais bin Mashar as-Saidawi. However, his messenger was caught by the forces of Ubaidullah bin Ziyad and killed.

Then, Husain continued his journey until he arrived at Zarud. When he was about to arrive, he just received information about the murder of Muslim bin Aqil and Hani’ bin Urwah as well as the betrayal committed by the people of Kufa.

Realizing this, Husain decided to go home. However, as mentioned in Al-Akhbar ath-Thiwal, the people of bani Aqil said, “For us, there was no point in living after Muslim bin Aqil was killed. We will not return until we die.”

Hearing this, Husain said, “So, what’s the use of me living after they die?”

Finally Husain continued his journey, even though he was blocked by al-Hurru bi Yazid at-Tamimi on the orders of Ubaidillah bin Ziyad, Husain finally arrived in Karbala on 2 Muharram 61 AH. His arrival was greeted coldly by the local population, which was said to have reached 100 thousand people who were ready. pledged allegiance to Husain.

Still reported from the same book, in the end Husain and his entourage were surrounded for several days, right on the 10th of Muharram 61 AH. A total of 5 thousand troops led by Umar bin Sa’ad bin Abi Waqash attacked Husain’s group. The aim of this siege was on the orders of Ubaidillah bin Ziyad to force Husain to recognize the authority of Caliph Yazid bin Mu’awiyyah.

Ibnu Katsir in The Book of Al-Bidayah wan Nihayah Translated by Farid Fahruddin and Arif Hidayat, it is said that on the 10th of Muharram, Ubaidillah bin Ziyad’s troops hit Husain’s head with swords until he bled. Then, Husain bandaged the wound on his head by tearing the fabric of his robe.

Quickly, the cloth wrap was seen to be full of blood. At that moment Sina bin Anas bin Amr Nakhai released an arrow and hit Husain’s neck, then he cut Husain’s neck and handed it over to Khawali bin Yazid.

Scholars disagree about the time Husain was killed, but the majority agree that Husain died on the day of Ashura in the month of Muharram in 61 AH. Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani also confirmed that Husain’s age when he died was 56 years.

According to the book Mahar Bidadari Surga by Rizem Aizid, it explains about martyrdom like what happened to Husain. For Muslims who die while fighting in the way of Allah SWT, it is included in jihad fisabilillah.

Therefore, someone whose body is martyred does not need to be washed. There is no need to even be given a shroud and pray. It is enough for him to be buried with the full clothes he wore during the jihad fi sabilillah. For this reason, when Husain died, it was said that he did not receive a shroud from the Angel Gabriel. God bless you.
