About a hundred police officers took part in the exercise.

“The main goal was to verify the procedures in the event of emergency incidents of this type and at the same time to verify cooperation with other components of the integrated rescue system,” said regional police spokesman Kamil Marek.

According to him, it is very important to have feedback from similar preventive actions as part of a tactical exercise. “Especially in order to check the speed and timeliness of the intervention and, last but not least, its tactics,” the spokesman explained.

Students did not participate in the exercise, with exceptions. Among the extras were academics and employees.

The public was not affected by the tactical exercise, but according to Marko, people living and doing business around the university campus could be surprised by the arrival of a higher number of emergency vehicles from all components of the integrated rescue system.

“We live in a world where the previously unthinkable is becoming a reality. We hope that a situation similar to the one from today’s exercise will never occur in our region, but it is essential that we be prepared for such an eventuality,” he emphasized.

After the shooting in Prague in December, in which, in addition to 14 victims, another 25 students and teachers were injured, universities focused on security.
