5) What are the conditions of the new gradual protection service?

The economic conditions applied to customers of the gradual protection service (Stg) provide for the application, in addition to the regulated tariff components, of a price component (in euros/kWh), to cover the costs of energy supply, based on the values monthly final figures of the PUN and a component (so-called “gamma parameter” expressed in euro/POD/year) defined on the basis of the offers formulated by the operators. This component is the same throughout the national territory and is determined as the weighted average of the auction award prices for the number of customers present in each area transferred to the gradual protection service. The component in question will be determined close to 1 July, when the provision of the gradual protection service for non-vulnerable domestic customers will begin, and will then be updated annually based on the number of customers supplied in the gradual protection service of the various territorial areas.

6) Who are the suppliers involved in the TSG?

The new supplier in the gradual protection service was selected as part of an auction system managed by the Single Buyer on the basis of the path outlined by Arera. To identify suppliers, the Italian territory was divided into 26 areas. Here are the successful groups: Enel Energia (7 areas, of which 6 North and the city of Rome; Hera Comm (7 areas of which 4 North, 2 Centre, 1 South; Illumia (3 areas of which 1 North, 1 Center and 1 South ); E.ON (1 area in the North); A2A Energia (2 areas in the South);

7) Where can I consult the list of sellers of the new service?

The list is available on the Arera website and contains details of the winners of the auctions divided by area and the discount proposed during the competition procedure. In any case, between May and June, the Authority will provide, through the bill, the communication on the new supplier of the Stg.

8) How long will the transitional regime last?

The gradual protection service will last three years: in the absence of an explicit indication, upon expiry of the TSG provision period, the customer is supplied by the same service operator on the basis of its most favorable free market offer. In essence, the customer will remain with the same operator but will be transferred to the free market with the application of the most convenient proposal at that time among those made available by the seller.

9) If you are already on the free market, do you need to do something before the end of June?

If you are a customer on the free market, vulnerable or non-vulnerable, and you want to remain on the free market, you don’t need to do anything. If you are a vulnerable customer on the free market and want to access the enhanced protection service (which for vulnerable customers will continue beyond 1 July 2024), you must submit a request to the operator of the enhanced protection service in your area, which it can be found on the Arera website (see answer 4). If you are not already identified as a vulnerable customer (i.e. the condition of vulnerability does not derive from age), you must also send the operator the enhanced protection service in your area the self-certification form. Finally, if you are a customer who is not vulnerable on the free market and you want to return to the enhanced protection service, you can do so until the latter expires (end of June because from 1 July the Enhanced Protection Service will give way to the gradual protections, which non-vulnerable customers will not be able to enter).
