A Delta Air Lines flight had to make an emergency landing shortly after departure from New York after the plane’s emergency slide came loose. It is another incident involving a Boeing aircraft, this time a 767 type.

Shortly after takeoff from John F. Kennedy Airport, a panel came loose. Behind it was the slide, which caused it to fall down. It is not clear where the slide landed. The plane returned to the airport after the incident, after which all passengers were put on another flight to Los Angeles.

The incident is not an isolated incident. The American aircraft manufacturer Boeing has been struggling with incidents of parts coming loose from aircraft for several months. Boeing’s headache started in January, when an Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9 lost a fuselage part during a flight.

Airline United Airlines checked and found the planes after that incident loose bolts and other “installation problems”.

In the months that followed, reports of defects in Boeing planes mounted. For example, a Boeing 777-200 lost a wheel during takeoff, and a 737-800 lost a cover on one of its engines.

The American aviation authority FAA has opened an investigationafter Boeing engineer and whistleblower Sam Salehpour sounded the alarm.

He had tried to express his concerns to Boeing management but was ignored. “I’ve seen people literally jumping on airplane parts to make sure they would fit,” Salehpour told reporters.
