French President Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned and expressed deep anger over the killing of at least 112 Palestinians during aid deliveries in the northern Gaza Strip.

“Deep anger at the images coming from Gaza in which civilians are being targeted by Israeli soldiers,” Macron wrote on the social media platform X, as quoted by the news agency AFPFriday (1/3/2024).

“I convey the strongest condemnation of this shooting and call for truth, justice and respect for international law,” he added.

The French Foreign Ministry said “the shooting by the Israeli army against civilians trying to access the food is unjustified”.

“This tragic event occurred at a time when an increasing and unbearable number of Palestinian civilians are suffering from hunger and disease,” the ministry added, saying Israel must comply with international law and protect aid deliveries to civilians.

At least 112 Palestinian civilians were reported killed after Israeli soldiers opened fire on a crowd of residents who were trying to get aid in northern Gaza, on Thursday (29/02).

Reported BBCFriday (1/3/2024), the Israeli military admitted that its troops shot at several people they considered a threat.

In this incident, a number of eyewitnesses saw a crowd of civilians trying to get help from a convoy of trucks that had passed an Israeli military checkpoint in Gaza City.
