How quickly the weeks go by. Especially because I usually spend a few nights abroad, time literally and figuratively flies. The days are getting longer and it’s been a while since I had to scratch my windows before I could drive to Schiphol. But above all, it is time to meet up with friends again.
And the latter was necessary with Lisette. Meanwhile, the other friends had also caught up and we had already sat together several times to listen to Lisette and assist her where necessary. It didn’t look good for her. Dick no longer wanted to talk to his wife and had announced that he wanted to divorce Lisette. He couldn’t stomach the fact that the love of his life had cheated him so much, and he didn’t want to make a fresh start. No therapy, no glue attempt, nothing. The ax was cut in the marriage and that was that. The lawyer was already drawing up the parenting plan and agreement.
A life shattered
Lisette was in sackcloth and ashes. Her whole life was in tatters. She had to look for a place to live, her daughters still had to be informed and in the meantime she also received disturbing texts from the man she had been playing around with. His wife had also smelled trouble and was on the warpath. “I have to move to another city,” she had said while crying. “This will just never work out again, I don’t dare show myself on the street anymore.”

I couldn’t do anything about it, but somehow I also had a feeling of ‘whoever burns his buttocks has to sit on the blisters’. I felt for her, but Jesus, how stupid can you be with your meaningless affair. Of course I had been guilty of it before, but it had never been more than a very short-lived ‘fling’ of one night. And Rogier and I also had a tacit agreement about it. I had also started to view it very differently by now. I no longer wanted a relationship that hung together like loose sand.
Married under prenuptial agreement
I had offered Lisette that, if the need really arose, she could crash with me. But my house wasn’t really equipped for a mother with two little girls. But hey, maybe she’ll find something suitable in the near future. What was certain was that she couldn’t stay in the house she shared with Dick. That did not fit into her budget and because they were also married under a prenuptial agreement and the house came from Dick’s estate, she was not entitled to anything.
